Not just a matter of figures!

Earning money is one thing, to be self-confident to be able to do so is another. Many of the trainees have left Burma with little education, no opportunity to develop any skills and little self-esteem. Living as refugees or asylum seekers in a foreign city, not knowing the local language, and having little if any resources left, makes it more difficult.

As a community-led project, the women management team fully understands these challenges, as well as sharing them. The Dorcas Centre is more than just a training in skills but an environment where the women can be together and grow together.

Every 6 months the management team visit all their 'graduates' to find out how they are now doing.
